| Welcome
to MRC's Research & Database site. We build, localise and
manage a national centralised database of automobile parts prices
and repair times for use as a standard in the processing and recording
of automobile claims. The database is mirrored after the internationally
recognised Thatcham Parts System (TPS) and Thatcham Times System (TTS)
from Thatcham, UK.
Currently, the
MRC Database has parts prices of 767 derivatives from 28 manufacturers,
which covers more than 90.49% of passenger cars and light commercial
vehicles on Malaysian road today (based on the latest Total Industry
Volume report).
Thatcham Parts System (TPS)
The Thatcham
Parts System (TPS) is a comprehensive vehicle parts price database.
TPS utilises manufacturers' part numbers and up-to-date retail parts
prices, whilst applying MRC's generic parts descriptions to allow
ease of parts identification for the end user.
Where applicable,
the data from the Thatcham Time System (TTS) is imported and linked
to manufacturers' part numbers and prices to provide a complete
dataset ready for implementation within an estimating system. When
parts price changes and supersessions are received, these are automatically
tracked and maintained by TPS, enabling trends to be monitored or
a price history to be generated.
Thatcham Times System (TTS)
The Thatcham Time System (TTS) is a comprehensive database for use
in estimating accident damage. It contains times for replacing parts
and panels, and is the only times system available that also incorporates
the repair method. There are two types of TTS. The Composite Times
is repair times categorised based on vehicle type and size while
The Real Times is repair times based on specific make and model.
Both of the times contains:-
- The removal
and replacement of panels and parts by evaluating the number and
type of welds.
- The removal
and replacement of mechanical, electrical or trim items by analysis
of the number of bolts, clips or screws.
- The refinishing
time where applicable. The paint database reflects modern day
methods and EPA compliant materials.
